Clean wood kitchen cabinets is not easy. This is clearly not as difficult as some lead you to believe, it just takes some time and elbow a little oil.

This is a good idea to clean your closet with a good furniture polish in between the time you actually wash with soap and water. Too much water may, from time to time, damage your finish, especially if not removed quickly.
Use a mild soap, like Dawn dishwashing liquid (cut the good fats) or Ivory dish soap or similar.
Murphy Oil Soap is also a good cleanser for your kitchen cabinets. It is gentle enough to use on wood. It is made with oils and lye, which, when mixed, produce a chemical reaction to make soap. No oil or alkali remaining in the finished product, so you do not have to worry about getting any oil on cabinet finish (making each refinishing future easier).
